Add YouTube Videos

For Web Wiz Forum V9.xx

Unlike version 8 of Web Wiz forum, version 9 comes with a new tag called [tube] to make it easier to add youtube videos to your posts.

To add a YouTube Video in your post (in this example I'm using my firework display) simply take the Video Code out of the URL (red part show below) and add the [tube] tags around it.

Web Wiz Forum BBCode

For Web Wiz Forum V8.xx

Have you ever wanted to post YouTube videos in a post? Well, You may have noticed that you cant just copy the code YouTube gives you and paste it into a post on WebWizForums.

This is because WebWizForums blocks HTML for security so people dont insert malicious code.

So how do you get a YouTube Video onto WebWizForum? Its rather simple acctually. First you need to turn Flash on from the Forum Admin

Once your into the Forum Administration area, look on the left-hand side for "Forum Configuration" and select it.

On this page you will see the heading "User and Forum Posts Settings", look in this section for "Flash Files/Images" and make sure its turned on.

At this point i should proberly quote the warning displayed at this section which is: Please be aware that allowing Flash files can cause security problems from malicious Flash Files.

By enabling Flash files we are now able to use the Forum Code [FLASH][/FLASH] in our posts, This will allow us to display YouTube Videos.

To use this Forum Code we need to look at the code that YouTube provides us, and we need to extract the URL that lies within it. Dont worry, this is easy and i will show an example below. The video in my example will be a video of my firework display.

<object width="425" height="350">
   <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ApKb77cZkSg"></param>
   <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>

   <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ApKb77cZkSg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed>
</object>

In red we have the URL to the Flash movie, this is needed to tell WebWizForum where to get the flash movie from. You may notice that there is 2 items highlighted in red, dont worry they're exactly the same so you can copy from either location.

In green we have the width of the flash movie, we'll need this later.

And as you have properly guessed, in blue we have the height.

In red we have the URL to the Flash movie, this is needed to tell WebWizForum where to get the flash movie from.

Ok so we have the information we need, but what do we do with it? well as i mentioned before we'll use the [FLASH][/FLASH] code supplied by WebWizForum.

Below is an example of the [FLASH][/FLASH] command with the values from my YouTube video code above. I have used the same colour codes so you can see how and where the values go.

[FLASH WIDTH=425 HEIGHT=350]http://www.youtube.com/v/ApKb77cZkSg[/FLASH]

As you can see, it is very easy to add YouTube videos to your posts. If you have any problems following this tutorial please head over to the Message Board and submit any questions you may have and i will get back to you as soon as i can.
